Rescue Puppies!!

Karen just got a very pregnant female into rescue last week, and she gave birth to SIX puppies yesterday. She is heartworm positive and will be undergoing treatment after raising her pups.
The daddy, Lewis, had a huge perineal hernia and had to be rushed to A&M for emergency surgery yesterday. He came out of the surgery successfully, but also has heartworms and will also have to begin treatment soon.

Here's a pic of her and the babies. They are beautiful. We are thinking of having an internet puppy shower for them!!

OMG, I know they are adorable, but that is SO HEARTBREAKING :( How does someone let their dog get pregnant with heartworms...I hate her owners, and maybe they are ignorant, but I still do. They all break my heart, but this is worse for some reason....What a hard road they created for her...So unfair....Also, she has a head like my sweet Molly...Makes it even worse :( Heart shaped, probably nothing but love....

I'm with you, Andie. It's so sad :( Not only does somebody not take care of their two pups, and now they're among the thousands needing homes, but now there's SIX MORE homeless pups out there :( On the up side, the mommy is beautiful, and hopefully her and her adorable pups will have no problem finding homes. (Keeping my fingers crossed!)

Shanda, What a sad story but at least the mom and daddy and puppies are now safe and will get the help they need. Any idea of where they are located? My hubby and i were thinking of giving Xena a brother or sister sometime in the near future. I know they probably will not have any trouble finidng those pups homes but if they need puppy parents please let me know. My heart tells me to look into the mom or daddy dog but I have cats and not knowing the older dogs background we woudl be better off with a baby.
Let me know if you have any info on them. Also the internet pupy shower sounds lie a great idea. I volunteer for our local humane society and we need all the help we can get especially when there are many mouths to feed!! Let me know if I can help in any way!!

Wow Shanda...you have your hands full. Please keep us posted on the parents and the babies. This is so preventable, yet it still happens....so sad.

Oh Laurie, I don't have the puppies...they are in Houston. I would be having a nervous breakdown if I had those pups...lol!

Xena's Mom- We would love for you to fill out an application for adoption on the website www.houstonbostonrescue.org. Even if these pups get adopted, I can keep a lookout for a particular age/gender BT that comes into rescue. Please, please consider us for your new addition!!
