We took Otis for his first trip to the dog park (aside from the play area at the Pet expo) today. The place is about 20 minutes away and it was very nice. Otis is such a wimp when it comes to other dogs, he walked in the gate like a tough guy and then dogs came up to great him and he stood as still as a statue to let them sniff him. After he thinks it's safe he makes a run for it and tries to get the other dogs to chase him. There were two other Bostons there, but one left right after we got there. The other one was a 12 year old guy named Stan. He was so funny and tiny. He ran around the park with his frisbee in his mouth daring the other dogs to try and get it. I couldn't get over how small he was. There were also a couple of Boxer puppies, they were so cute. After Stan left Otis made friends with a German Short Hair Pointer, whos playmate is usually a Boston so they got along great. However, Otis' new best buddy is a GREAT DANE named Merlin. Merlin does so well with little dogs I was amazed. It turns out Merlin's sister is a pomeranian, talk about the opposite ends of the spectrum...lol. Well, I just wanted to tell ya'll about Otis' first dog park experience, he had a great time! Me being the bad mommy I am forgot the camera though :( I'll remember it next time though!

Sounds like Otis had a good time at the dog park. I find with a lot of Bostons, they're the same as Otis, they act tough then wimp out. Then once they get in there comfort zone, LOOK OUT! lol They go nuts. Hopefully next time you'll remember the camera.photosmile Seeing pictures of little tiny Otis and the huge Great Dane would have been fun. Thank for sharing your day with us. thank_you

Just posted this over at woof but here it is again.
That is so funny that say his best friend was a great dane b/c Raider's bestfriend at the dog park is a great dane as well. They go running and he takes one step to Raider's 20 and then raider runs under him trying to keep up and gets stepped on causing him to roll head over tail but keeps right on running with him. I was amazed at how nice and calm the great dane is.
Guess Raider and Otis have something in common. :8:

Jenna, is it you who has family that lives in Cary/Henderson? lol This park was in Raleigh and it was really nice. Anyways, I was bummed that I forgot the camera. Raider and Otis definitely have something in common because Otis was doing exactly the same thing that Raider does. At one point Merlin was mouthing Otis and his mouth pretty much fit around Otis, it was funny.

Yep that is us, we just did not make it over this year. I always take my camera but never get any pictures taken, watching Raider to make sure he does not pee on something he shouldn't and keeping an eye on Jazzy makes for a full time job. Maybe one day I will get some pictures of them playing at the park.

Erin, sounds like you and Otis had a wonderful time. Wish I could have seen him playing with a great Dane. It had to be funny.
Looking forward to pictures next time :)
