Do any of you know how one might go about starting a rescue? Is there information out there one what it takes to have a dog rescue? There are not a lot of surrendered bostons comming up inmaine, but I am sure there are some, and I would imagine if there was a rescue people would know where to go to bring a boston they can't keep anymore. Just a thought.

Starting a rescue is a very difficult thing to do on your own. You can bankrupt yourself on vet bills and other costs associated with helping dogs in need. It is not a money making venture as adoption fees rarely cover the costs of what it takes to help a rescued dog. It is also heartbreaking, frustrating and exhausting work but can be very rewarding. You need a very tough skin and lots of good social skills to deal with some very difficult people at times.
I would suggest becoming involved by joining an already established rescue group. They are always in desperate need of volunteers for transport, foster homes, home checks, etc. That way you are contributing and you can learn how it is done. To see if there is a BT Rescue organization near you please visit www.btrescue.org or contact Susan Hunter at libertree@aol.com
Best of luck,
