Daisy gets hiccups all the time. IS this normal for a puppy and is there anything that causes them, or could prevent them? also, she sometimes twitches like crazy when she is sleeping. Almost like seizers, they are kinda freaky. Do your dogs do that? I'm trying to pass them off as normal, but sometimes they are so total body that it is scary. When I wake her up she stops, so I am thinking their not seizers.

Well, I really do not know if it is normal. :19: Maybe other more experienced people will help you more, but all I can say is that Beamer used to have hiccups all the time when he was a baby. Now he is almost one, and he still has them occasionally. So I really think it is ok. It did not hurt him.
About crazy twitches when she is sleeping:
I think she is just dreaming and think someone is chasing her :-) Beamer does it a lot. I wake him up and he is fine. He also makes noses when he twitches :-) They look almost like seizers :-) But it also depends how bad they are.
Maybe we are not talking about the same thing? Well I hope other people can tell you more then I. Beamer is my first BT and just like a baby. I have called my friend who had BT's for many years and checked with him about anything that Beamer had that looked not normal to me. But he said it is ok. So I do not know :-( I hope it is ok :-)
But maybe other people will say something else. Good luck with your baby! May the baby grow healthy!
All the best
Alena and Beamer :-)

Oscar had hiccups like crazy when he was a puppy and he also twitched when he was sleeping (dreaming, I think). He's completely normal and healthy. He hasn't had any hiccups since he was a pup and he's almost 2 now. I wouldn't worry, but mention it to your vet the next time you take your pup just in case.

Both of our dogs would hiccup a lot, and they both twitched while they were sleeping... Sammy (11 mos) still hiccups. But they both stopped twitching while they were sleeping once they were out of their baby puppy phase.

Yea, Zeus used to get hiccups alot. I'd try to make him drink but like leading a horse to water.... And he used to do the twitching thing too. I think it's a puppy thing. He doesn't do it much anymore but sometimes he does howl in his sleep and wakes himself up like "who did that?". (he does the same thing when he has noisy gas. lol he jumps up and runs from himself) It's soooo funny.

oscar: love the quote. so true.

It seems to be normal for BT puppies to have hiccups. Nyah had them alot when she was young and now she hardly ever gets them. As far as the twitching, I always thought this happened when they're in a deep sleep. I heard on another board(org when it was up) that you don't have to wake them up. Both these things are quite common and I'm sure your Daisy is perfectly fine.

Zeus,
Beamer does it ALL THE TIME too! He passes gas and then runs away like
"Whew I am not smelling THAT!" You parents smell that :-)

The hiccups and twitching are all very normal. I would not wake her up when she does this. She is in a deep sleep and dreaming.

As with everyone else both of mine used to have the hiccups all the time.

One thing that is diffrent is mine still chase butterflys in their sleep all the time. Raider will actually sleep with his eyes open and the third eye comes over his eye and he starts twitching. Jazzy actually moves her legs like she is running and whines when she is sleeping.
Raider will be one in may and Jazzy one in July so maybe it will go away but for now it is still there and very funny to watch
