I'm lost!! So you mean if we click on any of the ads we see on BL that it generates revenue for BL? I have never clicked because I'm afraid of what might happen, virus, etc. Here's some information on how Google ads work (http://www.google.com/services/adsense_tour/). They can be used by any web site that wants to raise money if they pass the application criteria. Google filters their ads in some way to check that the sites they point to don't have viruses. Also, the sites that are advertised via Google have to pay to be included in the targeted adwords program.
If you are worried about web-based viruses and trojans , you should do the following:
Stop pop-ups Internet Explorer (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/web/sp2_popupblocker.mspx), Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/options#webfeatures)
Alert yourself to client-side scripting attempts Internet Explorer (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/using/howto/security/settings.mspx), Firefox (http://opensourcearticles.com/articles/firefox_15/english/part_03)
Install an anti-virus program (http://www.microsoft.com/security/partners/antivirus.asp).
Windows: The ones I recommend are AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5) or Kaspersky (http://www.kaspersky.co.uk/trials); both are free.
OS/X: Though OS/X is built on BSD Linux and does not have nearly as many viruses written for it, it is not without any and all security problems. Take a look at this article (http://antivirus.about.com/cs/allabout/tp/aamacvir.htm).
