Hi everybody! I had a question about Buddy not really eatting so well. He just turned one years old 2 days ago and when he was a puppy we fed him Puppy Chow and then we were noticing how he wasent really eating that often and were getting worried. We recently changed his food to Benefiber and its getting a little better but I just feel he should be eating more. Does anybody have any suggestions??Thanx :o

How much do you feed him? It could be that he is getting larger amounts than what he needs. And it could be the recent food change? Lulu will actually skip a few meals here and there. She is not one of those gobbling dogs. And I can remember the doctor that I used to work for saying that kids will eat when the get hungry and I always figured dogs were the same.

It sounds as though your dog is just plain bored with the same old food. How about giving him some variety in his weekly diet. Try feeding some chicken necks, raw meaty brisket bone, cooked liver and mince stews with rice and veg's added.

My dogs all free feed so I really don't know how much dogfood they eat. Buster (the bt) takes a few bites here and there all day long. I also give them pretty much whatever we have too, especially the veggies. Sue may be right. Maybe give Buddy a little variety. Toni, I think that's what works for my dogs. Their weights are good and even with the food available all day, they only eat when they're hungry.

Could be that the food your feeding has alot of filler in it and by that your dog feels more full after just a few bites. Also like stated could be he just is board with his food, or the heat of the day also makes dogs want to NOT eat. Luna usualy eats late at night we call it her midnight munchie time, she does nibble thru the day but does most her eatting at around 11pm. What can i say shes a odd old gal.. LOL!! Now she does pig out when i feed her at the same time i feed Moose as there food dishes are close to each other. Right now both dogs are on Premium Edge Lamb, rice & Veggie formula which is what i can afford at this time 35lbs for $28.00, but normaly they are on a much higher quality dog food but because of Mooses bone growth we need a dog food very low in protine which Edge has.

Sasha is not a big eater either. We have to mix some chicken broth, cottage cheece,or some kind of mixable "human food" in with her food. But now since she is nursing the vet gave us some liquid Vitamins to mix in with her food and she LOVES it!
