That is the question at our house right now.

I would like to introduce everyone to Bones. He was found on Fort Sill by the military police in a yard with no food or water. He was taken to the animal shelter on post and when his owners returned they said the $5 fee was too much to pay. We went by an d picked him up. The ABTR in Texas is full until Oct 3rd so we are keeping him until then at least. He is 9 months old, with a cherry eye and is very skinny. The vet on post said they will do the procedure on the cherry eye when we bring him back for neutering but they are not taking new appts yet. We are contacting another vet we were referred to on Monday. Right now we think he was abused before the owners left b.c he is scared of every movement you make and when I throw Raider and Jazzy's toys to them. He does not settle down, he is constantly moving and does not like to be in the same room with the rest of us. I think the longest I have managed now is 30 minutes. He did finally take a treat yesterday but still does not understand toys. He has played with Raider though and has learned the BT500 but I have tried to keep that to a minimum with his eye. He is eating well and hopefully we can put some weight on him. He is a marker so he is banished to what Mike calls the diaper for now until we can get that corrected.

Here are some pictures, not very good b.c like I said he does not stay still at all.

OMG Jenna. He is soooo cute. Well since you have to wait until Oct. 3 maybe by then you will know if you will want to keep him forever. I hope he settles down and stops marking for everyones sake. That is so nice of you to take him in. I cannot believe the owners said $5 was too much. They don't deserve him.

I hope everything works out and he's with you forever. It so nice that you brought him into your family because without you he may not have had a chance. He has really cool markings and has a very sweet face.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I can't believe they said that either! I agree with you! they DON'T deserve him...in fact the shouldn't be allowed to own any animal!

OMG, he's just adorable Jenna! I LOVE his markings, and that third pic of him - well, such a sweet face. I also can't believe anyone would say 5.00 is too much to pay and I agree they don't deserve Bones or any other pet, and Bones was very fortunate to be found in time. I agree with Barbara, maybe by Oct. 3rd you'll be able to decide on whether to keep him or not. It's wonderful you have taken him in!

Jenna, he is precious. If you are not planning on fostering in the future, keep him! His behavior will get better. It make take training and effort but I bet the marking will be reduced once he is neutered. I love splash Bostons!

Gosh, I just realized that third pic is Raider, and that's who melted my heart. But I do stll think Bones looks like quite the handsome little boy.

Awe Jenna.....he's adorable :) And I know that he has some issues, but if you do decide to keep him, you will feel so good watching him go through the changes :)
If you do foster, you can know that you were the start to his New, Better life :)

Post MORE pics!

Jenna, he is a doll! I'll be praying for you to know for sure if you are supposed to keep him or foster him. In the mean time, giving him the love, food, shelter and security that he needs is an AMAZING act of love. Hat's off to you and Mike (and of coarse Raider and Jazzy) :)

Bless your heart Jenna, it's people like you that give BTs their voice. It's sad to see some people disregard pets as objects because they can't afford $5.00 yet they probably can afford the $5.00 for booze/cigarettes/drugs/youfillinthe blanks.

Ali said it best, they don't deserve any animal and you deserve him.

Oh, he is just adorable -- he is a SPLASH BOSTON. My first boston was a splash -- though, I didn't know about that term until these boards.

What a handsome boy he is, I am sure that you will make the right decision
If only Lucy was not so aggressive to other dogs I would be on my way!!!!!

Any updates? How is he doing?

Everytime I look at the pic of that poor sweet little boy..

I want to find the previous owners and.....

evil thoughts. Must banish them.

I would like to treat them like they treated him.

Evil People suck.

Hi everyone, thanks for your nice comments.

Bones is getting a little more settled but still would prefer to be in a room the rest of us are not. I have put a blanket in the front hallway b.c that is one of his favorite spots. He is playing more with Raider and Jazzy so that makes them much happier. He has also gained some weight which is very good.

Tonight he seems to be having some kind of stomach problem, he has been dry heaving most of the evening and has coughed up a thick white substance about 5 times. He has also reverse sneezed twice tonight. I will be taking him into the vet in the morning if it does not stop.

I managed to get two pictures of him which was a challenge but here they are

Oh Jenna what a sweet looking boy. I sure hope he's not sick from something serious. I am sure that once Bones realizes that you can be trusted, he will be sharing space with you. Its probably going to take him some time because he has never been able to trust before. And I also agree that once he is neutered his marking will change. (it did for Indy). I really wish another Boston would make its way into my life that way. I would love to have an opportunity to rescue right now, but I'm afraid if I bring any more dogs home I might find myself in a wee bit of poop!! Bones is lucky to have found someone as loving and caring as you. Even if its not forever, you are giving him a great start at realizing how most humans love their animals.

I missed your post...sorry Laurie

I talked to Wanda from ABTR yesterday and we are doing to find Bones (name to be changed soon) a forever home. I feel really guilty but I just do not have the time to devote to a puppy right now.

He is over his upper res infection though and his last fecal was neg so he will be getting neutered and his cherry eye worked on this Friday. he is coming into the living room more and is playing well with Raider and Jazzy. He has discovered toys but will only play with them with Raider and Jazzy. Now we have to teach him what are not toys....lesson learned the hard way :). He is gaining weight and I will take some new pictures of the crew and post them tonight.

I'm glad to hear that he's coming around and feeling better :) Isn't it funny how their personality changes once they feel better?
Looking forward to pictures :)

Jenna how is Bones. It's Sunday here so did he have his surgery and how did it all go?
So good to hear he is gaining weight and feeling better in himself. The 'play thing' will come right when he finally learns to trust people again.
